Months Of Preparations

The preparation of the wedding day begins months before the actual event.

Portofino International functions manager Claudio Guido said four months before the day, he met with the bride and groom to select the menu and to discuss reception styles.

``Three months later is our next meeting," he said. ``At this meeting we talk about the floor and table plans and complete the relevant paperwork including master of ceremonies and disc jockey sheets.

``At this stage we also commence and confirm all flowers, cakes and so forth."

The week before the wedding was the last official meeting, Mr Guido said.

``We like to call this meeting D-day because everything is discussed and finalised about the wedding itself.

``During the week leading up to the wedding the bride and groom are contacted by our bands and disc jockeys, and final details about music, style of wedding and speeches are discussed. This ensures that come the wedding day everything has been organised. All the bride and groom need to do is enjoy themselves," he said.
